We all know that teeth whitening products and agents tend to work with the help of chemicals and not with the help of active abrasives. These agents react with stains that are embedded inside your teeth. These stains are present deep inside your teeth, usually in the layer which is known as dentin, and hence are not cleaned by brushing or by superficial cleaning of the teeth. They form plugs inside the dentinal tubules, and the bleaching agents tend to remove these plugs to clean the teeth and give them the pearl white appearance.
✦ Use of Hydrogen Peroxide: Using teeth whitening agents such as hydrogen peroxide to remove the teeth discoloration is one of the best methods. You may gargle with hydrogen peroxide by swishing it around your mouth, and then you may rinse your mouth with cold water. Although this is touted as being a safe method, there is a possibility that it may cause tooth sensitivity and gum infections in the long run.
Baking soda is an effective ingredient that helps whiten teeth. Take toothpaste on your brush and dip this brush in baking soda. Now brush your teeth as usual. Baking soda is abrasive and hence, removes the stains over your teeth leaving them pearl white. You can also brush your teeth using baking soda first, followed by use of regular paste. But remember that brushing teeth with baking soda frequently can damage teeth enamel. So best to restrict its use to once a week.
